To exploit its full potential, a thorough management is necessary.<br \/>\nIt is usually collected separately on the territory, with the different active systems, and sent to the treatment plants to obtain <strong>compost<\/strong> and <strong>biomethane<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThose producing the organic fraction can be independent in managing (part of) it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How?<br \/>\n<\/strong>The answer is <strong>home composting<\/strong>.<br \/>\nSuch a simple and basic practice, whose result should be a comprehensive involvement of those meeting the requirements to carry it out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are these requirements?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Having a (vegetable) garden.<\/p>\n<p>But the benefits in doing home composting are much more, if compared to the prerequisites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduction of the tariff<\/li>\n<li>No collection of the organic fraction<\/li>\n<li>Reduction of generated CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<li>Use of \u201czero-mile\u201d compost<\/li>\n<li>Synergy with any collection system on the territory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since 1996, our company has embraced these concepts. By the time, the positive impact of home composting was clear, as also confirmed by our Sales and Marketing Director \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/lucatorresanwastefighter\/\">Luca Torresan<\/a> &#8211; \u201c<em>In our organization, we have always committed to home composting; we have always dedicated time and resources to a practice that produces economic and environmental benefits<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to increase, promote and improve home composting?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Through innovation.<br \/>\n<strong>Digital Composting<\/strong> was introduced last year. The project was developed together with our Junker App colleagues, and the path we shared led us to a solid result, that can be adopted on the entire national territory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why \u201cDigital\u201d?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Because information changes quickly, and this speed needs to be supported by dedicated tools, able to get to the citizen\u2019s gardens.<br \/>\nThe \u201c<strong>Composting Guide<\/strong>\u201d is a fundamental tool, especially for the beginners of home composting; it can be available on your smartphone, and its most up-to-date version allows you to start the journey. It is easy, and safe.<br \/>\n<strong>FAQs<\/strong> are always available, as a \u201cfirst aid\u201d to find quick answers to questions and issues.<br \/>\nTo install your composter in your garden, you can follow the easy \u201c<strong>Assembly Instructions<\/strong>\u201d.<br \/>\nAll these tools, once only supplied on paper, are now totally digital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The transition to digital is only about this?<br \/>\n<\/strong>No. The most ambitious part of the project was to have a digital management of the <strong>composting register<\/strong>, with three elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Composter<\/li>\n<li>Unique Code<\/li>\n<li>Junker APP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This ecosystem allows citizens to register as composters, directly accessing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/showcase\/junkerapp\/\">Junker APP<\/a>; registration, which takes place in a few steps, is then transmitted to the Administration to be verified and validated.<\/p>\n<p>The system allows users to verify the progress of home composting, through dedicated and customizable questionnaires, after providing geo-tagged photographs of their composters. This way, Administrations have all the necessary elements to monitor and control registered composters and users.<\/p>\n<p>With the Regional Decree 501\/2022, <strong>Liguria Region<\/strong> has authorized\u00a0the\u00a0use of digital systems to self-certify composting activities. Municipalities can now conduct the mandatory inspections remotely, and no longer in person.<\/p>\n<p>This practice, if enhanced and promoted by Municipalities, will lead to environmental and economic preservation in the community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>40% of the produced urban waste is the organic fraction.
