Waste Management World, an international publication dedicated to the waste management sector, has featured an in-depth article on UrbaE and the research process that led to the development of Sartori Ambiente’s ergonomic container.
The article, entitled “Athlete science, applied to the bin”, explores a distinctive aspect of the project: the application, to the study of waste collection operators’ work, of methodologies also used to analyse athletes’ movements.
The collaboration with CeRiSM – Centro di Ricerca Sport Montagna e Salute made it possible to observe and measure container-handling activities, first in the field and subsequently in the laboratory, using tools such as three-dimensional motion analysis and electromyography.
A data-driven process developed with a clear objective: to understand how container design can help promote more correct postures and reduce physical strain during daily collection operations.
Waste Management World’s feature thus offers a behind-the-scenes look at UrbaE and shows how research, ergonomics and user feedback can be translated into concrete design choices.
