When we talk about ergonomics, we often think of office chairs or workstations. In reality, ergonomics concerns all the tools we use every day, including those that require physical strength and repetitive movements. For waste collection operators, who lift and handle hundreds of containers during their shifts, ergonomics is not a detail: it is a crucial factor for health, safety, and work quality.
What is ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the discipline that studies the relationship between humans and the tools they use, with the goal of reducing physical effort, improving posture, and preventing injuries. An ergonomic product is not just comfortable: it is designed to adapt to the needs of the human body, making movements easier and reducing risks associated with physical strain and incorrect posture.
Some of our containers have obtained ergonomic certifications issued by independent bodies, which evaluated parameters such as:
- the shape and positioning of the handles,
- the distribution of weight during lifting,
- the ease of use when opening and emptying.
Ergonomic certifications and products
- UrbaE — Ergonomic Product Certification – 4 stars, and Human-Centered Design Certification (ISO 9241-210)
- UrbaPLUS — Ergonomics Certificate – 3 stars
These recognitions are not just “quality labels,” but proof that our design work brings real benefits to waste collection operators.
An ergonomic container means:
- fewer injuries caused by repetitive movements or forced postures,
- less fatigue at the end of the shift,
- greater efficiency in collection, with faster operations and less energy wasted,
- a safer and more sustainable service for everyone.
At Sartori Ambiente, we believe that innovation is not only measured by digital technology, but also by attention to people’s well-being.
The ergonomic certifications obtained by our products are evidence of this commitment: protecting those who work every day to make our cities cleaner and more liveable.
